Weekly Peer Support Group Meetings

L.I.N.C. (Long-term Inmates Now in the Community)

Peer Support meetings are held at the M2W2 office in Abbotsford (Monday and Friday nights 7:00- 10:00pm) and Genesis House in New Westminster on Wednesday nights (beginning in March 2010). The groups are open to anyone. They are a safe place for people to talk about life on the outside and help them detox from prison in a pro-social way. The combination of offenders just starting conditional release alongside those individuals who have been out for twenty years, staff and others who have never been in prison serves to break down many barriers and stereotypes. It allows for example, the newly released offender to hear about some of the pitfalls he or she may be facing in the future from others who have made it on the street.
