This is a PAID 14-week training program for youth ages 15-30 who are out of school and facing employment barriers by developing their employability skills for jobs in the retail, hospitality or tourism sector. This project is 14 weeks of paid training and work experience for 12 youth, with valuable specific certifications.

The Family Assessment and Support team provides child protection and family support services to the community. The team assesses reports of suspected child abuse and/or neglect and works with identified families to reduce risk through the provision of services and supports. The team also works with families who call requesting support services or consultation to help resolve family problems such as parent-teen conflicts, parenting challenges or other family stressors/crises. The team is committed to working collaboratively with families and their extended family members or support systems to resolve issues and solve problems.

Changing Point provides short-term coaching, education and mediation services to help families build positive relationships, open communication and reduce stress and conflict. Coaching sessions provided 1:1 for adults & youth may include strategies to address behavioural changes, facilitate goal-achievement, improve communication skills and boost healthy social/family/personal development. Comprehensive family support builds on family strengths in solution focused group coaching sessions and/or in a structured mediation setting. Mediation is a timely, cost-effective way for separating couples to settle property, support, custody and parenting time issues together in a more peaceful, collaborative way, without going to court.

Family Development Response Program

The Family Development Response Program delivers a comprehensive mix of support and clinical services to families with children. The focus of this program is to be time-specific and goal-oriented in helping relieve family stress, improve the functioning and long-term stability of families, and help to reduce the necessity and incidence of family members being referred to and/or going into the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Ministry of Children and Family Development are the primary referral source, but there is a small self-referral component available to the public for 6 sessions of family work. There is no individual or couples counseling for self referrals.

First Stage Housing (Haven in the Hollow)

We provide temporary accommodation, case management, shelter, food, bus tickets, toiletries, and security while assisting residents to secure ongoing stable housing that meets their ongoing needs. This is comprised of 15 beds for men, a separate unit of 5 for women, one family unit for a family of 5, and one room for a person with mobility challenges. We provide advocacy and support for clients in need of treatment, employment, mental health, social assistance, medical, community programming, and identification. Residents are referred by self treatment/recovery programs, other shelters, Crisis Line, Extreme Weather, Ministry of Social Housing and Development, RCMP, medical facilities, families and community service providers.

Workouts are tailored to third age specific requirements; 50 minutes of music, fun and good exercise with programs designed for seniors and those requiring specialty fitness approaches. Some weight strengthening exercises included. UFV Kinesiology designed programs, our class is designed for all levels and is especially useful for people with joint disorders such as osteoporosis and arthritis; we teach flexibility, strength training, light weights and relaxation to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle and to stay mobile and independent. Chairs are provided for the class.
